The Euthanasia Process

To enable the euthanasia process to be as calm and peaceful as possible, a sedative injection is given first. This will allow your pet to fully relax to prevent any distress.

The pet will be given an overdose of anaesthetic so that they peacefully pass away. This usually happens quite quickly and many owners are surprised by this. The injection is not painful.

After your pet has passed, your vet will check your pet’s heart with a stethoscope and confirm to you that the heart has stopped and your pet has passed.

Cremation options can be offered and discussed with the vet.
