Vets have used acupuncture to treat a variety of conditions in animals for over 3000 years. Needles are inserted into specific points on the body to produce a healing response for numerous ailments and to provide pain relief. Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated.

Is acupunture painful?
Acupuncture is performed using sterilised thin needles. There is occasionally a brief moment of sensitivity as the needle penetrates the skin. Most animals then relax and fall asleep during their treatment.
Is it safe?
Acupuncture is one of the safest therapies your pet can be given. Side effects are very rare and may only include very occasional swelling around the site of the needle. Certain animals especially with chronic disease may deteriorate slightly and temporarily before improving.
How often and for how long should my pet be treated?
Treatments last for up to 30 minutes and initially are treated 1-2 times weekly for 4-6 weeks. Individual needs are then tailored to regarding further sessions.
